I was born and raised in Wanganui and have lived in Palmerston North, Dunedin and different parts of Auckland. Like so many kiwis, I lived for several years in the UK and travelled the world. Do I have to choose? Cathedral Cove on the Coromandel holds some fond memories and I’ve always had fun when I’ve been in Queenstown. But if you make me choose, say I could transport myself back for an afternoon - I’d take a long slow run up from Castlecliff beach in Wanganui and aim for Mount Taranaki. Wind in my hair, surf rolling, black sand, great drift wood logs like dry bones stretching to the horizon and not a soul in sight. It won’t make the 100% NZ ad – but I love that sense of freedom you get from such a rugged landscape.

Umbrella Shoes

I LOVE and Adore shoes, my friends always tell me I could open up a shoe warehouse with the amount I have.

But I don't think umbrellas for shoes is really necessary, sure its protecting the rain from falling on to the front of the shoe, but what about the back of the shoes or the water splashing up when you walk?
To be honest I think I would rather wear gumboots than be seen out with these on my feet :oS

Umbrella - Improved??

This umbrella makes a little more sense then the umbrella shoes, and possibly one of the more practical products that was in the email, the concept seems to make sense to me.
There is no point in an umbrella when there is a wind and its blowing the rain on an angle and its only covering a small area above your head. With this umbrella it seems that all angles are covered. But i guess it still wouldn't save you from the splash back of puddles when you are walking.













Train Helmet - Sleeping Aid

Now this is just bizarre...
Cant say I have ever really fallen asleep on the train before, so perhaps I am not one to judge the usefulness of this product. All I know is that if I spent all morning doing my hair I wouldn't want to ruin it by putting on a helmet. I don't think there is anything worse then turning up to a meeting with hat hair.

Chopsticks - with a difference

I find it hard to use chops sticks as it is.. now they are adding new fang dangle objects to them.
They look rather heavy, not only do you have the weight of your food hanging off a tiny stick but also a battery powered fan hanging off the end of it, guess it would give your fingers a work out.

But really what's so hard on blowing on your food to cool it down?
Are we really getting that lazy?

A good rest is only weeks away!

I can just see it...lots of sun, palm trees swaying, a cocktail and of course a hammock! What else could any of us want more at this time of year. Christmas and Summer holidays are slowly coming into the horizon, to the point that we can almost see it - but not quite!

First, if you are anything like me, you are snowed under with one of a zillion tasks that you promised you would do before Christmas. and somehow the list instead of getting smaller seems to steadily grow to the point that you think to yourself, "Will I even reach Christmas and that well earned rest?".

Don't despair, you will get through it as we all do but how about you really make sure you get what you deserve. Don't let another moment pass without actually booking that holiday you have thought about for so long? I just did and will be going to lovely Scarborough beach, in Western Australia, for a few days during our break. Hopefully I don't spend the whole time looking around at all the promotional products everywhere I go. Unfortunately, that comes with the territory, once you have been in this industry for as long as I have, you just can't stop. You might think surely on a beach there are no promotional products...well sorry to say but you are wrong. I will be looking out for all those clever companies that took us up on some of our promotions such as the Mega Beach Towels and Summer Promotional Products. I think I will even see some clever branding in the form of Beach Umbrellas, Tents, Chairs and Beach Bags and Cooler Bags. The list can actually go on forever but I think you get the picture! So keep going and just imagine how good it will feel once you arrive at your destination and there it is a hammock waiting for you and I think I see the waiter holding what looks like a Blue Lagoon ...no it's Pina Colada! Yeah!! It's all worth it!

In 2005, Mebourne resident Joseph Hachem defeated 5618 players to win the Main Event at the World Series of Poker. His victory earned him a record breaking $7.5 million dollars and marked him as the first Australian ever to win the event.

Hachem's win also revived the Poker industry in Australia with Poker tournaments springing up in basically every club, pub, RSL and in many homes.

Baz Luhrmann's Australia Film set to generate tourism industry

Baz Luhrmann's epic film Australia is currently having the finishing touches put on it with reportedly changes being made to the ending. Rumour is that Hugh Jackman was originally going to die at the end of the film but apparently Baz Lunrmann is changing the film so that he lives as this will hopefully encourage more people to visit Australia; not sure about the theory behind that decision. Either ending I still think that there is going to be an influx of tourists into Australia over the Summer. The film is actually the most expensive Australian film ever made so hopefully the investment will generate some much needed revenue for the tourism industry.

JEM Promotional Products have been in the industry for a long time and seen some weird promotional products but this one I think wins the award for weirdest promotional product of all time. Introducing...custom branded bullets. Yes BULLETS as in guns, war, shoot etc.

Ever Changing Promotional Products Range. Is it all Going Green?

Over the years I have seen many changes in the Promotional Products industry, mostly in response to the demands of our clients and their needs. Many products come and go depending on trends and fashions but year by year one area that is definitely showing continued growth of products is the environmentally friendly products available in our range.

It is great to see that many companies are now interested in reducing their carbon footprint and try to move towards sustainable living goals.

Personally I love to look at the products through, what might be considered over critical eyes, by checking whether they measure up to the equivalent non- environmentally friendly product and I'm really happy to find that most times they are as good if not better! Quality, Style and Function are important no matter what product we are talking about so it's great to see so many products that more than deliver on all the criteria I just mentioned.

Some of my favourite products at the moment are the Jute Tote Bags. I think I would be willing to buy one just for looks alone but when you find out that it biodegradable and therefore environmentally friendly that just happens to be the icing on the cake. I think we will all continue to see many more promotional products that will be made of environmentally friendly materials and maybe at some point that will be the norm. Only time will tell.

A couple weeks back a colleague gave us link to a video on youtube.com, about a New Zealand cartoon Beached Whale and said that it was hilarious and should check it out. Great ! Something else to mock us Kiwi’s.

Alright i’ll check it out, and sure enough it was a clip of a beached whale conversing with a Sea Gull about the predicament he found himself in, with a badly forced Kiwi accent. BUT! it was the funniest thing I have ever seen in a long time, and have sadly memorized the entire clip. Within the first week of the clip being uploaded it already had over 1,000,000 views. PRETTY GOOD if you ask me.

I went out shopping last night with my sister and stopped to talk to a friend of ours. Losing interest in the conversation, I was just randomly looking for nothing in particular at the shops and people around me when a T-Shirt and Singlet (Available in Black or White, Men's and Ladies Style) in Supre caught my eye, I couldn’t help but laugh and run into the store. Looking at the shirt which had the all to familiar “Im beached as bro” saying from the clip, the Beached Whale and his Sea Gull buddy; man i had to buy it.

I find it funny how silly video clips can have an impact on today’s fashion, with slogans that are guaranteed to make you laugh every time. It amazes me how creative people are sometimes to come up with things like this just to amuse people.

Some are worried about us New Zealanders are going to find it offensive?? But don’t worry cuz, it’s all good. My work colleague and I found it awesome. So did my hardcore Maori Family. It’s all sweet.

For those of you who haven’t seen the clip and just need a Good Friday laugh, watch it! it’s just 1:39 mins, and one that will keep you laugh every time you hear “Beached Whale”.

Graffiti speaks louder than Billboard

I was visiting a client this afternoon in the city and I parked behind this van. I was instantly intrigued by the graffiti and so took the time to take a look...and some photos : ) The van acts as a moving billboard for Wicked Vans. I hadn't actually heard of them before so I as soon as I came back to the office I checked out their website.

According to their website what Wicked Campers does is sort you out with Australian cheap rental camper vans for about the same price as hiring a car. Each van comes with a unique paintjob as well as accommodation and a kitchen built in.You won't waste your money on the frilly bits so you'll be able to afford all those great activities and have all those wicked adventures in Australia you've always dreamed of.
