Branding gone too far…tattooed fish!

by Elyse on August 14, 2009

I think this is a perfect case of branding gone too far with Pet shops in a city in southwest China offering fish tatooed with patterns and lucky characters with the purpose of bringing their owners good fortune and happiness.

According to the story on Ninemsn an ordinary parrot fish sells for just 10 yuan ($1.70) while a tattooed one goes for at last 25 yuan ($4.30). While I don’t really think this form of branding is appropriate I guess this is a fantastic example of how adding a logo or message to a product can increase its perceived value.

If you would like to enquire about getting your logo branded on some products (not live ones!) then contact JEM Promotional Products on (02) 8205 1334 or enquiries@jempp.com.au.
