Dulux Jelly Bean Promotion

Dulux Jelly Bean Promotion

No matter where I go I can’t help but be aware of marketing campaigns especially ones that involve Promotional Products and when I was at Bunnings last night I couldn’t help but notice the Dulux Jelly Bean Giveaway is on again. I wasn’t able to find any history on this promotion but I would have to hazard a guess that this promotion has been going for 20 years or more and that it is still going strong. The campaign itself is extremely simple where you receive a free can of Jelly Beans when you purchase certain Dulux Paints at certain stores, which means the shopper does not have to do anything too out-there in order to get their free gift.

The choice of product is also very simple. Many companies overlook confectionery because they deem it to be a boring product that has been done before. The truth of the matter is that confectionery is something that the majority of people like and so using it on a mass giveaway generally means that you will please most of your customers. While it may not be as exciting as the Boonie Doll it is something that is incentive enough to purchase one product over another.

Confectionery may seem boring so a great way to spice up your campaign is with some unique packaging, similar to how Dulux have packaged theirs in a Paint Tin Can. Your packaging should also relate back to your product and brand. There is no point putting your jelly beans in a paint tin if you sell sunglasses, maybe package them in a sunglass case instead?

Hi David,

Thanks for your comment. I can’t be 100% sure but I think we I was doing some research for the blog I saw a mention that the Paint Tins fit around 1200 Jelly Beans.

Thanks,

I spent a fortune on Dulux Paint this week but did’t get any Jelly Beans

Andrea November 18, 2009 at 12:50 am

Are the tins of jelly beans available to buy without having to purchase paint ?

Elyse November 23, 2009 at 9:38 am

Hi Andrea,

I don’t believe you can buy just the Jelly Beans, I believe you need to buy certain Dulux paints to get them for free.

Thanks,

Elyse

Hi Lionel,

Thank you for your comment. I am not actually sure where the Jelly Beans are made, it is something that you would probably need to check with Dulux.

Hi Jacqui,

I think if you check with the store you are buying the paint from they should be able to help you alternatively you can contact Dulux directly.

Regards,

Elyse
