Aurelio Vidmar & his not so subtle branding
I happened to be watching Fox Sports on the weekend (not by choice mind you) and Aurelio Vidmar was being interviewed. I have no idea what he was talking about because I was so distracted from what he was saying by the huge logos printed on the collar of his business shirt. I think this is a great example of over-the-top branding. I understand sponsorship deals but I think that it is important to make sure that not only your sponsor gets their logo seen but you also need to make sure that the shirt looks good or else it just looks cheap which gives the sponsors brand the wrong association.If I have a client who wants to brand the collar of a business shirt I normally recommend a small logo towards the point of the collar and that the logo be embroidered in a tone on tone colour so that it is more subtle.
